Scott Assumpcao Thomson

Scott Assumpcao‑Thomson showcased a large-scale sculptural work titled “Janela” (meaning “window” in Portuguese) at the Inn Way Art Co‑op in Ellenville, NY, during the Upstate Art Weekend event from July 17 to 21, 2025. The sculpture, described as a vertical piece crafted from wood and metal, embodies a deeply personal tapestry of his life—interweaving themes of love, grief, validation, violation, and acceptance. Visitors are encouraged to metaphorically “open the window and mind,” letting go of what no longer serves them and embracing freedom to “Dance in the wind.”The installation is dedicated to significant women Scott has lost, and it serves as both an energy source and prompt for meditation or movement.
